The Farmer's Donkey - A moral story.

Once upon a time, there lived a young farmer with his donkey. He used to go to the next village and sell the donkey's milk.

One blazing hot afternoon, the farmer was on his way to the next village. While travelling, the farmer grew tired and decided to take rest under the shade of a tree. He, along with the donkey, leapt under the tree and were fast asleep!

Soon, the donkey was awake but not the farmer! The Donkey roamed free around the tree, grazing the fresh grass.

But unfortunately, the donkey didn't notice a big pit near it, and lost it's balance and was already inside the pit, before he could think!

The donkey brayed , and brayed, till the farmer got up to see what happened. The farmer was astounded to see this. He gave a hand to it, pulled it's tail, and tried to carry it out. But none of the ways worked! After sometime, it grew dark and the sun rose down near the mountains.

The farmer was tired and decided to leave. He thought." It's dark and I must leave this donkey here and get back home. My children will be waiting for me. At the same time, my poor donkey will be left alone, eaten by the night creatures!" So, the farmer began to cover the pit with sand before he left.

He thought that the night creatures wouldn't see the pit with the donkey. But to his astonishment, the donkey thought this as his opportunity and began climbing slowly over the sand.

As soon as the farmer had put enough soil, the donkey jumped out of the pit happily braying! The farmer was happy, too!

The Farmer's concept was to seal of the pit containing the donkey, with the sand. On the other hand, the donkey's concept was to jump out of the pit as soon as the farmer had fill it with sand.

Moral:

Use the opportunity when we have it.
